q6600 processor
gigabye p35-ds3r mobo
2 or 4 gb crucial ballistix
Antec 900 case
wait until november and get a 9800gts for $450~
if not able to wait get 8800gtx
tuniq tower 120
mx-1 thermal paste
2 x 320gb seagate 7200.10 RAID 0

This is kind of what I'm looking at right now.
about that tuniq tower, I think I might go with the ultra, they're the same price and look at the charts.
AnandTech: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme: Is More Better?

tell me what you think.
Q6600
P35-DS3R
250 GB Seagate 7200 RPM
ThermalRight Ultra 120 Plus
2 GB Crucial Memory
8800 GTX 768 MB
Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower

That looks like a good build. Don't know if you need to bother with it. But and operating system is another $100 if you actually buy it.

I still dont see the 9800 at 450,remember nothing else is going to be out to compete, no competition=monopoly. Id be happy if it were under 600

I can't even think of the 9800 being under 450.

And to HellsAngel, yes the TR-120 Extreme is a great HSF. But maybe a Tuniq Tower 120 would do fine with the Q6600 you're about to order. ;)

look stay with 8800gts, i mean u wait for one thing other things out and etc.. just not wroth it imo. tuniq tower or TR 120 ultra and fan. personally TR very lil better perf and tuniq comes with fan and cheaper so tuniq prob better choice. then chuck in a mx-1 pad and call it a day. also aswell try get your hands on a G0 stepping that will lower your temps alot and give better overcloking.
