hard drive format gone wrong

yeah i just finished the format, does anyone know of any good software that can recover data from a format? i've been looking around and haven't found anything good.

its alright i think i actually recovered the whole drive still in tact, minus the 3gb worth of format that had already occurred. i used an O&O software's disk recovery. we will see how it goes, im at 60%...

it worked pretty well. a few of the files were incomplete and corrupted, but what sucked is that they were all named filexxxx. and they were only organzied by file extension. but it recovered alot of it, just have to organize it. i wish they're was a way to recover stuff organized the way i lost it.

What program was it that you used? A friend of mine had a major HDD failure, and he needs data back.

you can try just installing windows xp and replace only the OS/dont format/ leave files in tact etc... Its worth a shot , ive recovered files from a corrupt OS by dong this .
