a side-efect from overclocking?

my internet speed slowed down 1/3rd the speed.

I tried it plenty of times. going back to stock speed automatic settings, my internet speed test results is around 15-18mbps with ping of 15ms.

when oc'ing my system, ping is at 30-50ms and speed is at 4-6mpbs.

is that normal? im using wireless too. I just went back from 3.0 Ghz to stock 2.4Ghz and my speed is at 15-18mbps, but when im at overclock cpu speed, my internet is slowed down by 3 times. any ideas?

Internet speed has nothing to do with overclocking. It's your ISP that is slowing down your internet connection.

Ethernet slot, probably? But that does seem like a weird problem.

Well I guess raising the fsb is just messing with your LAN, try a milder overclock and see if the problem persists.

if there is an option to change your core multiplier change it instead of the fsb. try to see if it does slow the internet or not. also try to transfer some files over the network if you have any other computers at home but if not hmm :\ good luck on overclocking. the only side effect would be more heat, more power consumption, and less life span. depends on how you overclock but just changing the fsb won't hurt too much.

He has an E6600, only the intel extreme chips come with unlocked mutlipliers.

Maybe you could try using a pci ethernet card to see if its your motherboard messing up the onboard lan.
