Is it true that a comparable Intel Duel core CPU will outdo AMD's x2? Someone told me that and before I vuild my new system I figured I would check it out.

Does anyone know, are they about the same price? Thanks.
 
An X2 6000+ is comparable to an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600. It will out do in most situations, but not in all, and not by a huge amount.
 
Yeah you can compare it, but you have to list a specific Dual* Core. E6600/E6750/E6850 can own any AMD X2 any day in performance, but then the downside is the price the E6600/E6750/E6850 is at. Intel - Performance, AMD - Price Tag. AMD's should especially be made in budget computers since I know a lot of people would go for Intel if they have the money.
 
6000+ performs on par with E6550/E6600 at stock speeds

But all C2D processors can overclock much better than 6000+, and consume much less power.
 
after you over clock, your gonna have a ton of increase of power any proccesor.

new 6400+ performs higher than e6750 but less than the 6850. stock.

and are you looking strictly at TDP's? because Intel doesn't rate their CPU's at maximum power consumption.

Yes, C2D's can overclock better. but the scale isn't as big as people make it out to be.

According to this website 6000+ consume more power than QX6850 which have 130W TPD compared to 6000+ which have 125W

So, even if you include memory controller, the C2D will still consume much less power

Intel doesn't rate their CPU's at maximum power consumption.

No it doesn't perform better than E6750

6400+ performs better in 3dmark, but who cares ?!! Would you buy a 6400+ just to get a high score in 3dmark ??!!

In gaming E6750 is about 10% faster

And in real world application like encoding, photoshop, office applications etc, E6750 was better most of the time

6400+ was priced at $239 by AMD, so I don't know how the website you posted is selling it at $130

but Intel TDP stands for Typical Design power (average) instead of maximum like AMD.

However, the methods Intel and AMD use yo express power consumption are not comparable, because AMD calls for Maximum TDP, while Intel declares Typical TDP.
