We use a lot of shared excel workbooks that are pretty large and for the past few days they have been really slow when users try to save changes. The excel documents are located on a server here in the office and are about 15MB each. I understand that the file size is quite large, but i have seen much bigger. Anyway the error that the users get is "disk is full" when they try to save. The machine processes the save for a good ten minutes, the save uses so much of the machine's resources that it looks to the user tthat the PC is 'locked up'. It is not really 'locked' just not responding in a time frame that the user likes. I know for a fact the disk is not full, not even close; plenty of free space. The save process always takes about the same amount of time whether it completes the save or gives the 'disk is full' error.

Anybody got any ideas...

maybe people have been looking at porn and getting spyware :0

on a more serious note that pertains to what your issue is. You say its a shared workbook, so could it be that a lot of people have it open at the same time, and when they go to save the changes it saves it on every open copy?
Check the system's and see if they have space and all that.

Is it just one workbook, or is it any that you try and open, make a change to and then save?
