how do you get ati tool to show you the GPU temp?

Actually nick, it's right there. It should be the middle of the 3 temperatures.

sorry if this sounds stupid, heres a screenshot:

go to "settings" and in the menu, click "temperature monitoring"
then check "measure card temperature"

If it doesn't work, then it's more than likely your card doesn't have a temperature gague

here's ATI Tool on my PC:

with my 8800 GTS 320MB sitting at 47ºC, after a recent game of C&C 3 on max settings, except with 2X AA

no it dosnt, my card was farely cheap, im thinking about this though:

Sapphire 2600XT 256MB GDDR4 Dual DVI-I TVOut PCI-E Graphics Card

or:

XFX 7900GS XXX 256MB GDDR3 256bit DVI HDTV out PCI-E Graphics Card

which one is better for the money?

wtf? i do think its my card being overly crap, oh and what about the two cards im looking at? ^^^^

7900 GS. They're about the same in performance at stock, but the 7900 GS is cheaper.

But the 7900 GS is also much more overclockable (especially with a voltmod)
And one thing about ATI's HD series GPU's is that they get a significant decrease in performance with AA and AF, compared to other video cards.

Because
1. his card doesn't support different clock speed for 2D, 3D low power, and 3D. It's just one speed all the time.
2. his card doesn't have a temperature gague
