RAM Compatibility

I have a Dell Demension E510 and I need to know if Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail will work in it.

Download a program called CPU-Z and go to the Memory tab. Check your RAM model and if its DDR2 800 / PC6400 then buy the Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 instead of those G.Skill RAM.

Whats wrong with the G.Skill RAM. I was recommended it for another build I was going to make in the future.

Well, performance is what the Crucial Ballistix is made for. If you ask b1gapl, he was able to get his Ballistix to DDR2 1200 speed.

Those arn't Crucial Ballistix, those are Crucial Magicstix.

DDR2-1200: See the 266MHz there, a member called b1gapl got it up to 600MHz.

They have a range of about DDR2-800 CAS3 to DDR2-1200 CAS5. They indeed are magicstix.
