AM2 socket fan help!

Okay, apparently, I'm having a very, very hard time getting my Arctic Cooler 64 fan onto my motherboard.

I've spent the last 3 hours breaking my back trying to get it in through various methods, after reading the manual several times, but it just refuses to even get near the sockets.

Does anyone know how to get the bugger on the motherboard?

I'm considering simply using the stock fan that came with it.

Are you trying to install it while the motherboard is in the case? If so, take it out and install it then.

Okay sorry for the double post, but I got it in, after pushing at it with a screwdriver, it slipped off and hit the motherboard twice, leaving scratches, but not on any circuitry.

Praying to any god that may listen to me that it still works fine.

i dont think you want ot take a screwdriver to it man. it shouldnt be that hard to get on.

Umm, a little late for that. I cut nearly all of my fingers trying to get it in, and the screwdriver got it in.
I'm still worried about the motherboard, though..

i would be too. its probably okay, though. dont worry about it. till you turn it on and it burns your house down. just kiddin.

It'll be fine. I've hit my motherboard with a screwdriver slightly a few times while screwing in the motherboard screws.
