hmm....so i guess ill go with the AMD....now which AMD should i pick? 2500+ or 2800+ or just go for the 64bit 2800+? i dont want him to have upgrade for a long while...so shouldnt the 64bit be the best choice? and can someone tell me where i can get a good case(thats cool and not ugly and plain) for under maybe 30, please tell me. And whats a good and quiet fan i should get? Thank you all again

Wanna a PC which can last for a while go for 64 bit.
When 64 bit OS and applications come out they would take the user experience to a new level.
Else go for AMD Athlon XP 2800+. U won't b disappointed with its performance.
Btw, hotmail is currently offering only 2mb storage space. So I cannot mail the pdf file as it is greater than 2mb.

humm...i still cant find a cheap case....does anyone make cases with actually GOOD power sources already installed in them?? like this one ...Case .....this would be much cheaper and easier...but i dont wanna risk blowing it up or something....so please advise

why not just buy that case and unscrew the power supply, then replace it with the one you bought ?

i thought cases without them would be cheaper...but i guess not...ehh...i think ill go with the Xoxide Scorpio-X....its yellow....but its on sale for $20 and looks pretty good

also i have a question. the psu im getting has 2 fans, 1 on the back and 1 on the top. I know theres a hole for the fan in the back but most cases dont have one for the PSU on the top. Is this actually bad? cuz the hot air has no where to go?

you have made some pretty good choices, but let me set the record straight

A) as much as I love AMD a athlon 2500+ will not perform as fast as a p4 2.8e, however it is a better choice for your friend since he doesnt game, also the amd runs cooler then the 2.8e

B) the switch to a 64 bit os on the mainstream will take 2-3 years if not more.

C) AMDs overclock about the same amount as the pentium 4 (excluding the athlon 64s)

D) AMDs do not have overheating problems anymore, and they are quite safe to use, heck the good mobos (abit NF7 series) include a safety shut down feature incase of over heating.

E) the frontside bus may matter in terms of performance, but a 400mhz fsb athlon can perform as well as a 800mhz fsb p4 (there are other factors)
