New processor & existing xp

yeah its not good to skimp on the PSU though i got a 600w PSU from Computer Supplies from Novatech for £22, very good

Why wouldn't XP recognize the new processor? You don't have to reinstall Windows, when changing the processor. Just drop it in. You would have to reinstall Windows, when you change the motherboard. And I'm not sure, if there is even drivers for CPUs. I would assume, no.

True. I've done it many times and never had to reinstall o/s.

PC Wizard 2007 says my core 1 & 2 is 98 degrees & 94 degrees - Could be cause of shutting down.

My funds are extremely low as I have a baby on the way, hence why i'm being cheap. Plus bills etc. Will this help with keeping the temp lower.

Them readings are a few minutes after xp is loaded.

Core 1 is 34 degrees C and core 2 is 35 degrees C.

When FSX is on, they go up to 50 degrees C.

After fsx core1 drops to 34 degrees C and Core 2 is 45 degrees.

I woke with the answer.

I forgot to plug the fan in. LOL
