I'm looking at upgrading my system, my current specs are:

Mobo-Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe
CPU-AMD 64 X2 4200+ (2.42 GHz)
GPU-GeForce XFX 7800GTX

Right now I'm looking at the Intel Quad Core Q6600 w/

I'm also considering the EVGA 640MB 8800GTS.

Should I keep my current CPU and Mobo and just upgrade the GPU, or should I move to the Intel based system with the quad core and keep my 7800GTX?
I can't afford to do both atm. Which will provide a greater boost in performance?

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 + P35-DS3R and keep the VGA

or

Keep the AMD, overclock it, and get the EVGA 8800GTS.

Oh and the greater boost in performance would especially be upgrading the motherboard and the CPU.

Q6600 will provide you a great boost in performance for applications and multitasking

But the 8800GTS will provide you a greater boost in gaming........

Personally, I would get Q6600 and upgrade the video card later when G90 comes out

Right now the way prices are, your best bet is to go with new board/cpu/ram and wait for the new gpus. ClubIT is your friend if you decide to get a q6600 as right now they are only 1 of 2 places that guarantee a g0 cpu.
