Pop in your Windows XP disc, reboot off of the CD, and then press R to repair when prompted.

That's repairing it, but you'll also have to put in some codes or something while running the repair.

Repairing only replaces the system files. But it is still best to back up, just in case things go wrong.

There is the problem...
I only have one disk. it is called 'System restore disk' (someone has written that on the blank disc). As you can probably tell, my XP isn't quite legal and I wouldn't know any of my codes, also it is vital that I don't lose any information at all, and I don't know how to backup every single file on my pc...

I inserted the system restore disk. It doesn't auto run so I opened it and it had a 'MyBackUp.tk2' filewith a 350,933kb size. Dunno if this will help. Also we have photoshop running on this pc and now it has stopped working...
