performance issue with vid card

The key should be on a label, on the side of the computer. He can just borrow someone's CD, or get it the other way, if you know what I mean.

My dads computer also runs off of windows XP home and he has his CD.
so just reassuring here, i can use his CD and the code on the side of my computer no problem?

also do i need to re-install all the stock parts before reformatting or just leave the upgrades in and go for it?

You can leave the upgrades in, and install the updates for them, after you've installed Windows.

I think it should work with your dad's CD and using your CD key.

Quick question, is it possible for static to reduce the performance of a vid card? My friend insists that i static'd my graphics card but i couldnt imagine static reducing its power without destroying the card.

Well the only way you could have transfered static to your VGA is by touching your hair and touching your VGA right at that moment or leaving it on your clothes and such. You always want to touch metal before you touch any of your computer components.
