My friend's old xbox stopped working after a power surge, and he gave it to me.

I took an old computer powerbox, and attempted to hook it up to the xbox, since they have almost the same power specs. The motherboard plug was different, so i cut the wires which colors' matched that of the 12 wires going to the xbox motherboard. After hooking them up, I got the fan on the xbox to twitch! lol. After cleaning the dust out of the powerbox, i noticed that both fans on the powerbox and the xbox twitch in unison, so Im guessing theres some problem i need to resolve with the powerbox. Could it be a circulation/security issue, so the powerbox cuts the power because it senses too much power coming back? please help.

I know xbox power supplies are only 20 bucks, but wheres the fun in that? :)

ATX93-3405 is the model of the powerbox. ASTEC

I would find an Xbox on Craigslist or Ebay with a broken CD drive or something and just replace the PSU with that one.

You can just buy an Xbox PSU on eBay for about $20, so it wouldn't be worth buying a whole new Xbox xD.
