Mic Troubleshooting

It seems I can not use a mic atm.... I know the mic in my steelsound 5h v1 works so maybe I have to enable something on my bios for me to use a mic on my pc?

it is a new build:

MSI P35 Platinum Mobo
Realtek Audio
All other sound works fine. Seems SPDIF just is not intact.

Do I need the Realtek HD High Audio Codec AND the AC`97 installed? Because I am now installin gthe AC`97 also because the high audi codec alone hasn't fixed the mic problem.

Have you done.

1.Volume Control
2.Options, Properties
3.Click Recording and make sure all the boxes are ticked (and up the top where it tells you the mixer device your hardware) then click OK
4. Make sure Microphone is checked instead of Rear Mic.
