how can I tell if it's defective or not, the fan is running and everything.

Then it should be good. Like phucng_10 mentioned, about the burn in....how long did this AF7 Pro run?

it's been over a month now.

Over a month, that seems like enough time to burn in. I'm guessing it's defected.

In my experience, the Ninja is the worst cooler ever made.

It feels very very cheaply made. It is HUUGE. It is so big I had to move my RAM over because the heatpipe hit it. The heatpipe on the other side bent a capacitor about 30 degrees. The fan that comes with it can only go one way otherwise the blades hit the cooling fins, plus it is attached very poorly and I fear it is going to pop back off because it's not very secure.

On top of all this, it cools poorly. It even states on the side of the box that it is not made for high performance or over clocking, because the bottom will warp (and this has happened to people).

Don't buy it...I sent mine back in less than a week. Worst piece of crap I've ever bought.

Mine didn't, but many reviews on Newegg said they had to send it back for replacement because the bottom warped.
