Yea....I've heard that revision A1 is great for overclocking quads. I think it gives support for the 45nm processors, right? Do you know which 680i motherboards have that A1 revision? I'd still stick with the P35 chipset, as it has native support for the 45nm processors, without a BIOS update.

From a little googling, some 680i boards such as that EVGA 680i, will support the 45nm processors, with a BIOS update. But it's still pricey, compared to the cheaper P35-DS3Rs, that natively support the 1333FSB and 45nm processors.

Will i need a better cooler (air) or will the stock one work?

For the Q6600, the stock cooler will do fine, if you don't overclock. But if you do, then it's recommended to get an aftermarket cooler. I'd suggest the Tuniq.
