omputer barely starting

When I press on the power button on my computer it sometimes starts up normally and some times sounds like it is starting up but then dies. It takes a couple of times pressing the power button before it actually starts up. What's wrong?

You PSU isn't supplying enough power to the components.

It could also be an overheating CPU.

i have this same problem.

but the 450watt is more than enough power to run what's in it... and i know it isn't over heating because when it does turn on (it only happens once) the CPU is running at 29C.

What kind of a PSU do you have? Brand name, Watts?

FPS, 400 or 450, either or...steve said the PSU would work no problem.

It not my computer really so I don't know the specs. But the first year and a half that I had the computer it worked fine, this has been happening up tp the 2 year mark.

if you aren't sure what it is, swapping for a known good PSU can't hurt. at the least it will eliminate it as the cause.
