Your mobo also has a sorta of fail safe, so if you don't boot (at least make it to the BIOS) it will reset you the bios settings. So a good thing to do is after you change the FSB and what ever else, and you hit save and exit, it should do a full restart where you can then again go into the bios by hitting delete and check that it didn't get reset. If it didn't, just exit again without saving and continue with the bootup.
