Computer troubles (Screen keeps blinking black)

When I start my computer, nothing happens. The computer makes the normal start up sounds, but it goes nowhere. The screen stays black but flashes a slight image every 3 seconds. The power button also blinks green every 3 seconds. Help!!!

Try clearing the CMOS and see what happens.

What is the CMOS?

Nothing ever shows up on my screen, so I don't think I can go into any settings.

Did you connect your monitor? Did you seat your VGA correctly? Have you connected your D-sub wire to the VGA?

Are you commented via DVI or the blu VGA cable? M ake sure you have a good connection on the computer and monitor side, meaning both plugs are plugged in tightly and not loose. Make sure your video card is completely in the slot and screwed in properly.

Take out the BIOS battery, then pop the sucker back in, if the first thing I said didn't work.

Then tell us what happends.

Well, there should be a jumper too correct? Look into your motherboard's manual and see if there is a CMOS/BIOS jumper.

yea there would be a jumper, but it is easier to just pull the battery, the results are the same.
