New laptop wireless

Ok well my sister just bought a laptop and I know very little of them because I've only used them a few times, but would she need to buy a wireless network thing so she can be wireless or does it automatically have it in them. It's a an HP and a really new model. She's trying to connect to the internet using wireless and I'm not sure why it's not working. I've checked everything on the router and still can't get it to work and it keeps saying it can't find a connection.

Newer laptops should have integrated wireless adapters so you don't have to worry.

Well it's saying she can't find a connection to the internet and I'm pretty sure our router is letting a wireless signal out. Do I need to install a driver for it to work or something else, she's about 30 feet away from the router too.

Tell her to check a switch right on the front of the laptop, it's to the left of the headphone jacks and next to the power LEDs. It has to be slid over to the right to turn on the wireless. I just bought a new HP dv6449, and that's what I did to start getting the signal in my apartment.

It's switched to the right and still isn't working.
