oh and....GDDR4 is latest memory available on graphic cards. The X1950XTX has GDDR4 memory. But GDDR3 is most commonly used today.
 
Yes you can, but DDR3 isn't worth looking into yet. They're too expensive, and not that much faster, than a good pair of DDR2s. If DDR3 can get tighter timings, then that's something to look into. Although DDR3 is getting super fast. Super Talent just released a pair of DDR3-1866.
 
in the UK a GB of DDR3 costs around £85-£100 whereas a GB of Kingston DDR2 can cost about £35
