what about different processors beside quad core. intel dual xeon or amd opteron ? is the cost difference worth any speed increase? or is what he is doing not need those server cpus

im guessing since xeons are mainly left for servers they wont be needed in this case. although i think i have seen premade editing comps with xeons

Just get Q6600 if you want to do a lot of video editing

im making a video editing comp for sumone aswell so i was planning on a q6600 and 4gb ram.

Ram: 2x2gb (any good brand) 32bit actually see all the RAM but only allocate directory use to 3.25gb but 3gb is all you need for video editing

i think he should get 64-bit, then he will be able to utilize all 4 gb in the future, and the price is pretty similiar

64 bit deals with the amount of ram you need. q6600 can run on 32 or 64 bit.
