The e6550 is cheaper, and will OC just as well, if not better. I think all the new e6x50 series, have the G0 stepping, as well.

I'm not sure if its on par with the e6600 but it should be with the equal cache and the increase of the fsb.

Also if I'm not mistaken it should over clock better than the e6600.

the e6550 is 2.33GHz - 7 x 333
the e6600 is 2.4GHz - 9 x 266

e6550 is a good processor, pick it up instead of the 6600, in fact i'm gonna stop recommending e6x00 series all together.... just teh e6x20, e6x50's from now out, then theres 4000 series

well they really are numbered for better. if your not overclocking that is, the e6700 is really better than the e6600 etc.. but not for price performance for overclocking ratio.

At stock speeds E6550 is on par with E6600 and 6000+
