I got my bfg 7900gs, a replacement because the previos one was burning up to fast.

I have also bought AS5.
I want some good instructions on how to apply it and where?
And for the paste that will be on their from before...how to remove it?
Should i just use rubbing alcohol and som cotton buds and wipe it off?
And where should the as5 go.

Thanks.

It's same when applying it to a CPU.

Put a rice grain sized dot, in the middle of the graphic card's processor. Then let the weight of the heatsink, spread it, while you are seating it.

To remove the previous thermal paste, use rubbing alcohol aka Isopropyl Alcohol. The higher percentage of alcohol the better. The usuals are 70%, 90% and 99%....and use a lint free cloth to wipe.

I prefer Q-tips... they are fairly cheap, and def. better than cotton balls. I think they would be too messy. You can get 99% Isopropyl Alcohol for around $1.00 at the grocery store. It will be near the nail polish remover & rubbing alcohol.

As far as application, you will want to put it on any surface that will contact the heat sink on the card.... If this is your card, you will likely only need to put it on the GPU.
