Can't get both of my IDE optical drives to configure

Ok so i have had one IDE DVD burner for ages now. I upgraded and got an IDE cable with two connectors, the primary and slave. I purchased a DVD ROM to go with it to copy things. However I cannot get them both to be connected. I put my Burner on primary and then my ROM on slave however it always acts like my burner isn't there and calls the ROM the master....I have the new P35-DS3R and any help would be appreciated.

Is this the way it shows up in the BIOS?

In the BIOS is says like SONY DVD-ROM then some number on my IDE Device 4.
