I'm going to pick up 2 GB's of ram today. I have pc2700 DDR ram.

now I know I cannot use the DDR2 ram..

but alot of the ram out there is like DDR pc3200 ?

are there any negative effects of buying this over my regular pc2700 ??

I was lookin at getting the samsung pc 2700 DDR , 333mhz Pricewatch ® - 2gb pc2700

is it all going to be the same bus speed ?

anyone have any suggestions ?

thanks !

If you plan on running the PC3200, along with the PC2700s, they will just downclock to PC2700 speeds. If you take out the PC2700, which you should, you can run the PC3200s at it's default speeds, without having to downclock.

just to note:
Pricewatch | Buy PC3200 DDR 1GB System Memory at the lowest price page 1

buy two sticks, still same company, but slightly cheaper. (assuming your looking at PCParts.com) I don't know how shipping is effected though.

I can't read too late... it says free shipping, so you can save yourself.... $6, might not be worth it. might be. Plus its the PC3200 instead of PC2700.

Also, if you buy from here, would you mind PMing me once you get the stuff for a quick, if the company is good/is the memory good/is it what you ordered? I've been eying them for a while now and don't know if I should get that or just sit on my 1GBs until I upgrade in 1 or 2 years. (old 754 system that I hate dropping more money into).
