Hi,

I was wondering if the following was fully compatible. I have been wanting to upgrade for quite some time, and my budget is about $1,500 or so. If I could get a lot better for my budget, please tell me!

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
ASUS A8V Motherboard
ATI Radeon 9800 256MB
1GB Corsair XMS PC3200 RAM
560 WATT Thermaltake PSU
Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Sound Card
WD Raptor 120GB HD 10,000 RPM
Sony DVD-ROM 1x
Lite-On 52x32x52x CD-RW
Thermaltake Xaser III 7-Fan Chassis

Also, is the GeForce FX 5900 or Radeon 9800 better?

I'm too lazy to look, but if the ASUS A8V Motherboard supports ur AMD 64, you will be fine :)

I think that the 9800 is better.

But u might want another oppinion, or even benchmarks :) LOL

Sony DVD-ROM 1x? slow?

I think your mobo ASUS SK8N using NForce 3 chipset is for AMD cpu. If u want to use Intel CPU, such as Pentium 4, better to get i865 or i875 Intel chipset.

I don't think it is compatible. THe A8v is for socket 939 i think. The K8v is for socket 754 (which i beleive the 3200+ ur looking at is). If the A8v is 754 then ignore this post.
