seems like an awesome plan, i like the idea of "aquring" XP, mind the euphemism but don't copies of XP still come with an upgrade coupon to Vista?

thats right so you coul dbuy xp with the vista cupon
thats if the cupon doesnt have an expiration date of some kind

if so just buy xp and then stash away like 10 bucks a month so that when vista is pretty much mandatory you will have enough money for it

vista uses alot of ram. it uses a service called 'superfetch' which predicts the programs u will use and loads them up at startup in the backround process. so well u play a game it is still using alot of ram and once games also use alot it causes unstablity. once this simple problem is fixed then vista will alot better. u can always disable superfetch manually but in doing so vista will incorparate the unsused ram in other services. right now xp come sp1 hopefully vista or DX10 which ever u want
