I currently have:
eVGA 256-P2-N528-AX Geforce 7800GTX 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 500W Power Supply
Western Digital Raptor 74GB

I am going to reuse that parts and upgrade on the 22 (with everyone else).

Here is the new parts:

OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory ($120)

Newegg.com - OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor

Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail

(assuming on the 22 we get our price cut)

GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail (165)

Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

How does it look?

Will the Q6600 work with DDR3 (i am getting this mobo so that in the future i can buy DDR3 when it has lower latency and cheaper)?

Is there a better combo for the money (assuming Q6600 fall by 50%)?

Also, I don't plan on using SLI in the future.

Will the ram i choose have a problem with this mobo? It is not specifically listed on the manufactures site as compatible. But it is really good 1066 ram so I would assume it would work.

Is my PSU good enough or does anyone have a better suggestion (up to ~$80) that I should get.

Just get the regular P35-DS3R. It will still be a very long time, to get DDR3 into the mainstream...and motherboards supporting two types of RAM, could prove a little buggy.

Another great combo, is the E6750 with the DS3R. You can take it to 3.5+ pretty easily, with good cooling.

this one also says:
"DDR2 1066 (Only support the memory on the Memory Support List on the official website)"

Will my memory I choose work?
Also what about the PSU?

I dont plan on OCing atm.

is this PSU going to be alot more stable?

I have to buy another psu for the computer I am building out of my old mobo cpu and ram.
other pc:
MD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Integrated into Chip FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor
MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard
OCZ EL Dual Channel 2048MB PC-3200 DDR Memory
EVGA 256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card (unless someone else has a good suggestion for a cheap PCI-express graphics card)

So I either need a psu for this or a new one for me. Any suggestions?

i can bet it will burn out in a year at work almost every system that has a psu failure the psu is antec and weve had some high end systems in with dead true power trios in em if possible try to fidn an enermax cheap or the corsair one

ive always used antec power supplies with all my builds and i have never had a problem with any of them
ive had a true power trio 650 watt since it was released and never had one single problem with it
you can trust antecs power supplies

I have had the antec and it did die once, is this one got better ratings. Is cosair reliable and good? The reviews on this do look very good.

Also anyone have cheaper alternatives tho?
