Need opinion about my upgrade!

i got 2 choices here but i dont know which one is better:

1) upgrade to an opteron 165
230$

2) upgrade to AM2 motherboard, get x2 3600 brisbane, and 2x 1GB PC6400 ram.
410$
sell my opteron 144, DFI NF4-D, and 2x512mbPC3500 ram for 200$
so total comes to 210$

so as you can see option 1 is 230$ and option 2 is 210$. what should i do?

what motherboard would you get if you go AM2?

the X2 3600+ can be overclocked past 3GHZ with a good motherboard.

Anyway, the 2GB RAM with the second option will also help aswell.

I agree with Apokalipse on going with option 2. Better overall upgrade.

Good overclocking AM2 boards are the 590's like the Foxconn C51XEM2AA- 8EKRS2H and EVGA 122-M2-NF59-TR. Or the budget 550, like the Biostar TForce550.
