Can hear the DVD-RAM drive through my speakers

Is that normal? It's a really big, tall case... the DVD-RAM drive is on one end, my audio wiring is at the other, and yet I can hear the high pitched whine of the drive spinning up and other associated noise through my 7.1 surround sound system.

The card is a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE.
 
I can look into that, unfortunately it seems the DVD drive isn't all that's coming through my speakers... my monitor and graphics card as as well. I get skittering sounds any time something moves on my screen, and a dull white noise whenever the graphics card is working hard to render something. :/
 
Are you saying that your system sounds are being broadcast...like there's a mic in your pc?

it sounds like the cables are picking up EM interference from the devices, but that's highly improbable considering their far proximity, and that level of EMF would probably wreck some of the more delicate components.
