Hi guys, have started my shopping for RAM this week. At first I was set on OCZ but the more I read these threads the more I see people being referred to Crucial. I was wondering how these different types/brands compare? I guess there are two parts to my comparison:

Part 1 (OCZ comparison) all three around $90.00:

- OCZ (OCZ2P8002GK) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz Platinum XTC 2GB (2x1024MB) Dual Channel Kit
- OCZ (OCZ2P800R22GK) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz Platinum XTC Revision 2 2GB (2x1024MB) Dual Channel Kit
- OCZ (OCZ2G8002GK) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz Gold XTC 2GB (2x1024MB) Dual Channel Kit

All are within a couple of bucks so I was wondering if there is any significant difference between them? (Gold vs Platinum vs Platinum Rev 2) Which is better for gaming?

Part 2, (OCZ vs Crucial): how does the above RAM compare to the Crucial Ballistix below (both around $150):

- Crucial Ballistix (BL2KIT12864AA804) DDR2 800Mhz PC2 6400 2GB Kit (1GB x 2) 240-pin
- Crucial Ballistix Tracer (BL2KIT12864AL804) DDR2 800Mhz PC2 6400 2GB Kit (1GB x 2) 240-pin (with LEDs)

The current difference in price is about $60 more for the Crucial over any of the OCZ...the OCZ being on sale and the Crucial isn't. Anyways, just wondering...

So to summarize:
A) Which is the better of the three OCZ options?
B) how much better is the Crucial over the OCZ?
C) what is the difference between the standard Ballistix vs the Tracer?

Thanks, appreciate the pointers.

No idea, but if you end up going with Crucial, get the one with LEDs. har har har, shiny computer ftw!

Glad I could be of help.

crucial without the tracer crap, who needs LED's in their RAM :) unnecessary for me really, i need a system that just does my gaming and schoolwork here and there
