How to output specs file in windows

Bleh, when I used to use windows...I remember there was a way to output a huge file containing everything about your pc...but can't remember how...someone remind me?
 
right click on my computer -> click on properties -> hardware tab -> device manager

or

click start -> run regedit
 
yeah, but there's a way to dump it to a .txt file...can't remember how, though. Some tech places ask you to do it...
 
open the run command, type DXdiag and then click the save all information button.

I assume that's what you're referring to.
 
are you kidding me? oh thats just priceless. i guess it works thought although the other programs are better
 
Ah, but that one is built in. Its not my specs I want to save. Easier to request the dxdiag file from someone than it is to get them to download a new program.
 
I like using Belarc Advisor. It's small and quick. They run it, save the results, and then give it to me. It lists all the hardware as well as the software, versions, and updates.
