Sony Vaio USB/PC Card issue

Ever since I allowed Geek Squad to wipe out my computer and re-install XP, my USBs and PC Card slot do not work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and still haven't had any luck. I've had friends that are "computer people" try the same thing and they didn't have any luck either. They concluded it was an internal issue, not just a software problem. They recommended replacing internal parts.

I came across this site that had parts for my laptop - Sony Vaio PCG-V505BXP. I am trying to figure out what parts to purchase first.

I am deciding on these:
Sony PC Card Connector - 1-817-276-14
Sony USB Connector - 1-793-365-21
Sony USB Connector - 1-794-548-21

I mainly want to the USBs working and I am not as concerned about the PC Card slot. I was told I may want to replace the motherboard, but that sounds so extreme.

Any advice or recommendations?

do you know if they messed around with the BIOS seting's because you can disable USB ports and PC cards from there, I have no idea why the geek squad would do that but it is a possibility.
