Yesterday I ordered asus p5b deluxe, but 2day my local tech shop guy called and told me that those mobos are out of stock right now.

The next (best) solution that i can see right now is Newegg.com - ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail which looks like a decent mobo, even if i will rarely use the wifi thing...

Well my question is: p5w has a Intel ICH7R southbridge and p5b has Intel ICH8R.. just like most asus mobos i've looked lately. Is the difference big? When would i see the difference with 8R? (games? applications? uptime?).

What i'm looking for is a quality mobo that will last long. No heating issues etc.

If you have this mobo (or know about it) please let me know! :)

Thank you in advance.

to my understanding the southbride controls transfers through ur sata connections so this shouldnt make much of a difference at all.

Thank you for your quick reply.

Well yeah, it controls those kind of transfers, but it also controls other things, as far as i know it controls power management too (correct me if im wrong), so it could be crucial for system's stability.

yeah like baron5 said should matter too much but if ur lookin for a great board get the ds3r i heard its really good for ocing.

i agree with Kobe here, just get a ds3r, and if u crave the wifi ability, buy a wifi card
