Buy.com is offering the 8600GT XXX for 149.99, with a 20 dollar rebate, and if you use google checkout you knock off another 10 dollars. Making the price of the card 119 or 129.

I heard rumors of an 8900 that will come out this year, and also Nvidia coming out with the 9 series sometime aroun the corner, would this be a good card to run pretty much all of my games? Im replacing an old video card, and this seemed like a pretty good deal. Ive also read reviews, but I came here for the final decision.

Core 2 Duo E6420
2Gb DDR2

theres no 89xx series coming out.... and i wouldn't buy it..... get an 7900gs KO for 100$

Why do you suggest, getting that? I have Vista, and Im goign to buy Crysis, and I wanna take advantage of DX10

Because you really expect to play such a powerful game like Crisis with an 8600GT? The 8800GTS is going to have problems with it let alone the 8600GT. The 7900GS is quite a bit more powerful than the 8600GT and I would go with one of them because you can play DX10 games with only a DX9 card, even if you don't get the DX10 features it won't matter if your card does like 30 FPS.

the 7900gs destroys the 8600gt, like sora says.... even the 8800gts will struggle on dx 10 games, imagine how much the lesser 8600gt performs.....

So, unless I'm willing to buy an 8800, which I'm not unless prcies drop real quick, I should buy a 7900gs? Can you link me to a good one? Close to the 100-150 dollar price range.

ya go to newegg.com and search for evga 7900gs KO and it should pull this up:
Newegg.com - EVGA 256-P2-N624-AR GeForce 7900GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 KO Video Card - Retail

its 105.99 after rebate... its what i'm picking up til the 9xxx series come out

Unfortuntly, it says the EVGA needs a 400w PSU, which is what I have. I'm planning on upgrading to a 550W SE+ from Seasonic, but I dont have enough money to buy both. The BFG only needs 350w, and the XFX looks the nices, but doesnt say what type of PSU it needs. If you can find out what type of PSU the XFX needs let me know. If you think the EVGA will be fine, then I might get it.

Also do any of these cards need a 6 pin PCI-E connector?
