Hard-drive problem! Help needed ASAP!

I tried doing that, but then I checked and the folder was empty. I was thinking, since this is an HD from my old computer, if I fix my old computer with my Pentium 4 CPU and plugged my old HD into my old computer, would it work? And will I be able to get the files I need in my old HD?

things in the harddrive such as Program files, etc you can copy or drag to another HD but the Documents and Settings you wont get into because that HD is not booted off from since its a slave
