How does an e2160 vs x2 3600+ go??

if you are going C2D then yes an E4300 or E4400 are better than those E21xx series.

After the 25 bucks more for the chip, and then the 25 bucks more for a good overclocking board the E2140 is only slightly faster for 50 dollars more...it's just not as good investment as the X2 3600.
 
I would look for an E6300 or E6400 cheap over an E4400 since they are a better value these days.

The DS3R for 129.99 is one of the best overclocking mobos out there

The parts I don't have come out to $538.02 after rebates and shipping

if u can't afford an p35, get a 650i ultra chipset, its 100$
