J jonny_uk Fully Optimized Messages 2,417 Location uk Jul 2, 2007 #3 go for a better one, like mine the x2 4200, there well cheap now and it will be a HUGE increase in performance then thats for sure. EDIT but the x2 3800 would be alot faster too, although as i said the 4200 is cheap so mayaswell go for that

Trotter Grandfather of Techist, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Staff member Messages 33,559 Location The South Jul 2, 2007 #6 4200+ and the 165 come in s939. I'm running a 4200+ right now, upgraded from a 3200+.
M maroon1 Banned Messages 3,479 Jul 2, 2007 #7 X2 3800+ is like two 3200+ because each core run at 2.0GHz Single core 3800+ has clock speed 2.4GHz, it should perform better than dual core 3800+ in single threaded applications

zmatt The Bulldog Messages 4,660 Location In an empty Ramen packet Jul 2, 2007 #9 I would say the 3800+ or the Opty 165. They are both cheap and would be a definite performance boost.

I resently upgraded to one. One thing to note before installing your new Dual Core CPU. Make sure your motherboard BIOS will support Dual Core. Check your motherboard's Support site for that cpu.
