New WD SATA ?

Hello everyone, I just bought a Western Digital SATA 160GB Hard drive for my new PC I built. The problem is I cant get it to detect the Hard drive. I have all the cable & power cable hooked up too it. Any reasons why it wont detect it?? So I can install Windows Xp Pro on it This is the mother board I have

ok so is your problem the bios dosnt detect the hard drive or the windows cd does not detect it ?

you need to have the sata driver on a floppy for installation. You can get it here. Welcome to Matsonic! Download-Intel-Driver

When you start the installation you will see at the bottom press F6 to install 3rd party drivers. press F6 put in the floppy and follow the directions.

well my sata hard drive was just plug & play bios update ? dead hard drive ?

ok thanks, my problem sometimes is I cant get my Bios to detect the new WD hard drive. When it does detect it say hard drive error or it just shows up as a hard drive but no info on it in bios

how do i do that?? Or would it just be easier to get a eide internal HD, the one i have now is a sata internal
