Disk drive problems!

Hey.. Well i'm having some problems with my disk drive, And I don't think it's broke.

Here's my problem - When I put a newer game disk in my drive (Say Half-Life 2 or Battlefield 2) My disk drive won't read the content on my disk, I'm able to look inside it but there are no files inside the disk, While on my brothers laptop it can read and show me the files.

When I put a older game is my disk drive, Say C&C Red Alert 2 or C&C Renegade, Or even a install disk for my router, It will run the setup.exe ...

This is why i'm convinced it's not broke.

Iv'e tried some troubleshooting tips, etc.. Nothing works, And it's really annoying. :freak:

I'm wondering if anyone has some old skool tips or has even had this problem before and solved it! The help would be really aprtiated!

Yeah, Mainly newer dvd's anyway.

what type of media are thee disc? what is the drive model number?

You can look for a firmware update for your drive.

It's a game disk, So i'd assume it's a dvd media. :freak:

@sPlAtOiD: How do I go about finding them?

EDIT: I Installed the firmware updates.. Still nothing. :'(

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but are you sure that your drive is a DVD-ROM drive? As I recall HL2 and BF2 come in DVD format.

My diskdrive has installed Half-Life 2 before, Just recently it started acting up..
