One of the reasons I didn't get the 8800gts was cause I didn't feel that the extra performance was worth the extra 100 dollars. Go with the x1950xt, you'll love it and you'll be fine.

lol.... ur worried about the lifespan of the PC.... lol thats funny.... because ur gonna be parting with it b4 u see it... and plus instead of 1million hours, u may get 999thousand... nothing u would really notice... (btw this is hypothetical... it might be mil, bil, thousand, tril) but my point is u wouldn't notice

I just read somewhere that a 8800 requires a minimum of 450watt psu.... geez... is my 500watt going to be ok for this whole system??

8600 are meant for media centers, if you can afford it, grab a 8800gts 320, or a 7950gtx etc... but i havent been reading the previous posts...sorry if this is backwash.

8800gts is better than x1950xt at stock speeds.... but if u overclock the XT to xtx speeds the 8800gts 320MB and XTX 512mb is similar in performance.....

This is a joke man. Because you can't compare a stock speed to an overclocked. You can overclock 8800GTS as well

And 8800GTS 320MB is overall better than X1950XTX, X1950XTX may beat it in FEAR and Quake4, but in most of the new games like rainbow six vega Stalker, oblivion, 8800GTS kicks X1950XTX a**

And don't forget that XT usually have only 256MB memory compared to the 512MB in XTX. You can't overclock the memory.

And for the other people suggesting 8800gts.... that is freaking $300+!!!!

It cost around $260 I think, but from now to July 22 the price might drop

I just read somewhere that a 8800 requires a minimum of 450watt psu

8800GTS requires 400watt PSU

8800GTX requires 450watt PSU

X1950XT requires 450watt PSU

But the x1950xt can be bought for 149.99 now off of newegg. There is still more than a 100 dollar price difference. Then you add on by the time a dx10 will actually push the 8800gts it will be very close to the launch of the 9800.

Add dx10.1 into the mix and I just don't see the 8 series as being a good investment unless you have the money and you just want the best performance in games right now.
