I'm working on a friend's computer. It's an old junker, she had some spyware and adware, and she had a few programs that were freezing up her system (weren't working properly) and affecting her taskbar. I cleaned all the crap out of it, and it's working a lot smoother now (a whole whopping 500mhz desktop ibm). There's one problem i'm having though, and i figured i'd post here to see what kinda feedback i get on it.

Everytime the computer boots up there is a program that doesn't work properly that might be associated with windows. Whenever the system boots up, i check the task manager, and the program is "NOT RESPONDING". This lags the system and when it's time to shut down, i have to terminate the program through the task manager in order to get windows to shut down properly.

I can't seem to figure out what this program is for, i'll admit i haven't done my searches on google for it yet, although i will after i post this. I've clicked "END TASK" on this program once the pc boots up and it doesn't seem to affect anything that i can see ( i tried to figure out what it would do or what it would affect if i shut it down WHILE USING THE PC NORMALLY).

Here's what it is:

wnsapisv

Any ideas or feedback as to what it is and what it does? I also tried searching for the file "wnsapisv" on the pc and it wasnt found at all.

I'll add that everything is updated on the computer, its a WIN98 SE machine.

Um, already found those and read through it. Do you not know how to read? Already stated i posted first before going to google. Also posted i was going to google after i posted. Its a forum. Some of us like to NOT JUST LOOK IN SEARCHES, but also post to hear about others in real time about stuff. Get it? It's a little thing we call realtime feedback. It'd be very boring if there were nothing but search engines. I prefer to post and hear from others and integrate that with my searches. You do things your way, i'll stick to doing them my way.

I wish some people could read <evil grin>.

;)

By the way, for those interested...

WNSAPISV is related to something called PURITY SCAN, which is a supposed PORNOGRAPHY scanner. It drops these other things in your computer when you use it for the first time and these other things cause popups and do other things you really dont want them doing.

For the archives.. WNSAPISV = PURITY SCAN = bad bad stuff! Get rid of it!! Don't use PURITY SCAN lol.
