D'you know when you click on a web-page, and a pop-up box say's... 'You need to install Chinese Language Characters to display this page corectly'...
Well, when i click OK, (yes) - to install the required language characters - It asks me to insert my windows CD - and then it fails, saying: the file xjls.nls cannot be found
And when i try to install East Asian Language Characters from my WinXP Pro CD, thru Control Panel/Regional and Language Options - The same thing happens !
My copy of XP pro doesn't auto-run - so when i want to - i have to start the install or repair using 6 floppies...(it being a dodgy copy the PC builder sent me)
The file isn't on the CD when i use windows search - (even when i use folder options to 'view all files')...
So - Can anyone tell me where i can get the file from, and whether it's just a matter of 'double clicking' it to install ?

Many thanks - Blo. :beard:

I'm not sure if it works but you want to install the Language
packs in the Internet Explorer Browser. Go to Tools, Internet Options, select Languages at the bottom, then click add and
install the different Languages you want the Browser to support.

You will need to close and reopen Internet Explorer for this
to take effect most likely.

Good Luck.

Hey Blo,

Looks like I'm wrong and that you do need to install from
the Windows XP CD. This link covers the multi language support
of Windows.

The only thing I could find on the the .nls file pertained to
some Compaq and HP machines so check this out.

The other option which in your situation you might want to
consider how bad you want to view those webpages is to
reinstall Windows XP. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315341

Before you reinstall download the Magic Jelly Bean Key Finder
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml and record the
product key. When you reinstall Windows it leaves all your programs and files in there place and reinstalls all the Windows files. You will need your product key, to activate windows again, and to download all the service packs and updates from v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Good Luck

I did install it using Regional/Language options in control panel... I didn't need my CD - But that might be because the files were already in my temp. files, from the attempts i had made previously.
SO - You were right in this case... Keep up the good work - Blo.
