almost everytime my dad logs off his name on our family computer the monitor goes black and to the green red and blue box and says self check mode. the only way to get back to the log in screen is to restart the computer. updateing the gfx card drivers didnt work neither did installing old ones. the computer has windows xp home SP2, nvidia mx 4000, intel celeron d 330.

anyone know how to fix this?

i would first check the temperatures for the graphic card, might be faulty or just dying. Is this an onboard?

Is it just when your dad logs off or when anybody does? Does he use any special apps like CAD or does he just write emails to the governor.

no its not an onboard. its a newer gfx card. idk if its over heating but my computer does run really hot around 56-60C. what program can you use to check the temps of the graphics card because i have everest home and Intel active monitor.
