Help choosing RAM

Rite I am not all that great with computers but I bought my PC in 2002 and I am having trouble getting games to run properly. A mate suggested that I get some extra RAM , the problem is I donÂ’t know what kind or RAM my PC would take or even if it makes a difference. What little I do know about my PC is thatÂ’s it XP with a 40GB Seagate hard drive, MSI (Micro Star) MS-6391 (845 Pro4) motherboard and it has 256mb ram; please suggest anything that might be helpful. if you mobo has a driver cd, insert that and read something that should be in adobe reader. look for memory stuff and there should be something that says: DDR 333 (2700) something along those lines, could be diff or same. and then come back and post what you found.

I agree with GameGURU with the mobo cd. You could also download cpu-z:
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

It will tell you what memory your pc is using (among other things).

By the looks of MSI's website, your mobo would take PC2100 DDR266 memory:

Make sure to select RAM that is compatible with the mobo (the link above gives links to compatible memory manufacturer websites.

I guess that your Ram is DDR 266. You can buy another DDR and install.
