2 weeks ago I bought a Dell Turion dual core for $499. 1g mem, 60g hd, dvd burner 15.4" screen. Very good laptop. I bought it for my daughter and she loves it. I played with it the first few days to tweak it and I am very happy with its performance.
BTW, I ordered the Win Xp version. No way in he.LL I was going to use Vista.

i go for a basic 1.8 - 2.2 C2D 1- 2 gb ram depends on budget most pc these days are the same componants just re labeled - it just depends on budget i mean you can spend between £400- £2500 on a laptop so how much cash you have matters
