This is quick, Iam coming up on building my first terabyte raid, I want to use 3 400 gig hard drives as 'storage' and a single 320 seperate from my raid that I will install my os on. Will 3 400's make enough for the terabyte Iam looking for? I know a 500 formats around 465, roughly a 35 gig difference. is it the same for the 400?

OR a single 1TB drive?

Well, I would like to experiment with a raid in general, a single drive would defeat the purpose of learning how it works and experiancing the 'work' involved with configuring it. also, 4 400's are 379 as opposed to a 1TB for 399 and offer that chance to try a raid, I will think of either a raid 0 or raid 4

Ah OK I am sorry, I am getting a few 1tb drives for my next build (yes a few) I am a storadge whore and I am going to need it :)

a couple? jesus. See, I am giving my current build (minus the case and powersupply) to my dad. So, he'll have a nice 250 with the AMD and 7600. I'd buy a 1TB, but, that's alot of space to lose to a crash.
