something not right with your machine. take the hdd and ram out. then the battery. clear the cmos. turn the machine on twice. it will beep both time, but this will clear up stuff left in memory. put the ram and hdd back in. then try it

when in safe mode, what does it disable?
i've disabled the onboard sound through the bios before..that didnt work.

edit:

after a few minutes..i got BSOD. looks a little different than other times..take a look.

..thats all it says. doesnt specify a file or anything.

it can restore your computer to a time that it worked right. but I think that you said that it never worked right

ever since i put together this comp..i would get random BSOD while in windows. but never would happen in safe mode(w/ networking).

You can also get your BSOD auto-analysed at the Microsoft® Online Crash Analysis. If you experience a Blue Screen crash event, or Stop error, while using Microsoft Windows, you can upload the error report to this site for analysis. Microsoft will actively analyzes all error reports and prioritizes them based on the number of customers affected by the Stop error covered in the error report and try to determine the cause of the Stop error you have submit.

Theres a great writeup on Blue Screen Of Death here at WinVistaClub : Windows Vista Features, Tips, Security & More !
